Leeds Drug Intervention Programme. Rapid Access to Low Threshold Prescribing (Tier 2) - West Yorkshire Police -

Working in the public service...for a safer West Yorkshire.
The DIP is a major part of the government’s programme to tackle drug related crime. The overall aim of the project is to reduce drug related offending by accessing drug misusing offenders through criminal justice interventions and moving them into and through the drug treatment services.

Key features of the approach to service include:

• Discourage people from misusing drugs and enable those who wish to stop to do so.
• Ensure that communities have access to accurate information about the risks of drug misuse.
• Increase the safety of communities from drug related crime.
• Reduce the harm drug misuse causes to individuals and to communities.
• Reduce the accessibility and availability of drugs.
• Protect communities from the health risks, and other damage associated with drug misuse, including the spread of communicable diseases such as HIV, or Hepatitis.
